We welcome you to our 2025 Fall Plant Sale! Similar to our previous two sales, we will have wildflowers, shrubs, grasses and more. All plant material will come as plugs.
All of our native plant varieties are straight species, meaning that no cultivars will be sold. It has been found that cultivars often do not have the same benefits to wildlife that straight species do. Our focus on native species will help our native pollinators, increase biodiversity, and conserve our native plants and animals, among other benefits.
Research has shown that even the addition of a few native plants in an otherwise exotic garden can act as habitat “islands” that could be the difference between struggling and thriving for our local ecosystems. There’s not necessarily a need to rip out our beloved tulips, daffodils, or other non-native ornamentals, as long as we can dedicate a piece of the garden to native varieties. Some natives that we are providing are also great alternatives to non-native Forsythia, ornamental grasses, cultivated roses, and cultivated Clematis. Want to help volunteer with us and pack orders? We will be packaging orders on September 10th and 11th at Minuteman High School in Lexington, MA. We also need help on the plant sale days as well. Please email admin@middlesexconservationdistrict.org if you would like to help!
